Govt puts closure of shops order in ‘abeyance’: KTMF

Srinagar: Kashmir Traders and Manufacturers on Monday said that the government order on closure of shops in the old city areas has been put in “abeyance”.
KTMF spokesperson Farhan Kitab told Kashmir Reader that the government conveyed it to them this evening.
The government had ordered closure of all shops and business establishments in old city areas of Srinagar every Friday. Invoking the Jammu and Kashmir Shops and Establishments Act, 1966, an order made public said that the Labour and Employment Department has fixed different week days as “close days” for traders and businessmen operating in 56 areas of Srinagar. The order evoked sharp criticism from traders community who demanded its revocation.
