SRINAGAR: Hurriyat Conference (M) on Saturday strongly condemned the imposition of restrictions in parts of Srinagar, shifting of JKLF Chairman Muhammad Yasin Malik to Central Jail and placing the conglomerate’s Chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq under house arrest.
In a statement, a spokesperson of the amalgam criticised authorities for restricting Mirwaiz from carrying out his socio-religious and political obligations saying such acts are “worst form of repression and dictatorship”. “These tactics based on mere political vendetta can’t muzzle or break the resolve of pro-freedom leadership,” he said.
The spokesperson expressed grief over the killing of militant Mugees Ahmed Mir of Parimpora during Zakura shootout and paid rich tributes to him. He expressed solidarity with the family of Mugees.
“It is because of the lingering Kashmir issue and due to the stubborn and intransigent approach of New Delhi that people of this region continue to suffer (and) that the two nuclear powers are in the confrontational mode.”
