BARAMULLA:. Department of Cooperatives in collaboration with Baramulla Central Cooperative and Kashmir Mercantile Bank Sopore today organized a mega function in connection with 64th Cooperative Week celebrations at district headquarters here.
Joint Registrar Cooperative Societies (Audit) Kashmir, Deputy Registrar Cooperative Baramulla, Managing Director CC Bank Baramulla and Mercantile Bank Sopore, Members of Managing Committees of Cooperative Societies, Field staff and members of Civil Societies were present on the occasion.
It was given out that 82 Cooperative Societies of different types are functional in the district and 15000 quintals of fertilizer cast, Essential Commodities worth Rs.510.75 lakh, around 60000 poultry birds costing Rs.60.00 lakh, Dairy products worth Rs.40.00 lakh were distributed during the current financial year through these functional cooperative societies in the district. Speaking on the occasion the resourceful persons highlighted the role of Cooperative Societies in the socio-economic upliftment of the members of these societies and emphasized the need for formation of new cooperatives in different fields by involving more and more unemployed educational youth.
Meanwhile, Cooperative Department, Bandipora also organized a day-long event to mark the 64th national level cooperative week celebrations at district headquarters here.
Deputy Registrar Cooperative Societies Bandipora Syeed Aashiq Hussain who was the chief guest on the occasion unfurled the co-operative flag to mark the celebrations.
Speaking on the occasion, chief guest revealed the historical background of the co-operative movement and added that it has a history of minimizing the problems of the needy people at grass root level. He said that various new and innovative measures are underway to restore the pristine glory of the co-operative movement.
He appealed the people, especially members of the cooperative societies to come forward and run the societies with more efficiency and dedication so that better and remarkable results could be yielded at ground level. He said the cooperative sector is the one fine field which can handle the unemployment problem in the State. He urged upon the State youth to be the part of the cooperative movement to earn their livelihood at their doorsteps.
The resourceful persons highlighted the role of the cooperatives in the socio-economic upliftment and emphasized the need for formation of new cooperatives in different fields by involving more and more unemployed educated youth.
Supervisors, officials of Cooperative Department and a large number of elected managing committee members of the cooperative societies attended the function, besides cooperative institutional employees, civil society members and prominent cooperative societies.
