Srinagar: The urban local bodies employees united forum in collaboration with the Employees Joint Action Committee (EJAC) on Wednesday staged a protest here in Press Enclave against government stressing resolution of their demands.
The protesters raised the slogans against the government and said that their “genuine demands” were pending despite taking up with authorities repeatedly, resulting in the “suffering for the poor employees”.
The employees of the municipal committees, they said, are finding their future uncertain.
The protesters demanded for the regularsation of daily wagers, pension for retired employees, and new staffing pattern.
The president of JK Urban Local bodies Employees United Forum Manzoor Ahmad Pampori said that the municipal employees provide basic civic amenities to inhabitants despite all odds and circumstances and expressed hope that the Chief Minister would take personal interest in resolution of all pending issues of the employees.
“In case the pain and resentment exhibited by the employees is not felt, the Employees Forum in consultation with all trade unions of the state will review devise the course of future strategy for the welfare of the employees,” Pampori said.
