Development, promotion of small scale sector govt’s priority: I&C minister

SRINAGAR: Minister for Industries and Commerce, Chander Parkash Ganga on Wednesday said the government is committed to the industrial development of the state.
The minister said this after inauguration of Office-cum-Storage Facility at Industrial Estate, Zainakote. The facility has been established at a cost of Rs.855.60 lakhs under state plan and PMDP package. The new building will have stores for various raw materials like steel, raw pashmina, cement, plastic granules, etc. besides full-fledged office complex, an official press note read.
Minister of State for Industries and Commerce, Syed Farooq Ahmad Andrabi and MLA Noor Mohammad Sheikh were present on this occasion.
Ganga congratulated all the concerned departments for their contribution and performance in achieving the set targets. He stated that government is committed to provide better job opportunities, facilities for skill development and safe working environment for the established and new entrepreneurs.
The minister further said that Jammu and Kashmir would soon be listed in the top 15 states in the list of ease of doing business in India adding that “development and promotion of small scale sector in the state is the prime focus of the present government”.
Ganga hoped that the new infrastructure and building would assist SICOP in its mission of storing and providing efficient services to industrial units and government departments.
“The inauguration of the new building is an important landmark in the organisation’s efforts to acquire the necessary cost-effective infrastructure to reinforce its efforts for benefits of SSI units and government departments,” he said.
The minister asked MD SICOP to develop cricket stadium for the youth at Zainakote, which is a long pending demand of the locals.
The Minister of State for I&C Syed Farooq Ahmad Andrabi said that the state government was committed to provide a suitable environment for development of small scale sector in the state. “Various new industrial estates are at different stages of development and it is our priority to develop these estates in short span of time so that land could be available to the prospective entrepreneurs,” he said.
On the occasion, Ganga interacted with local entrepreneurs and assured them that the government would provide all the basic amenities to the industry in the shape of infrastructure and other facilities.
Ganga along with MoS Syed Farooq Ahmad Andrabi and MLA Ganderbal Sheikh Ashfaq Jabbar also inaugurated up-graded infrastructure at Industrial Estate Zakura at an estimated cost of Rs 260.25 lakhs under PMDP.
The minister also inspected the HMT land which was recently transferred to Industries and Commerce Department for the establishment of industrial estate and other facilities for the industry.
Ganga directed the Officers of the industries and commerce department to develop the industrial infrastructure on this land so that “prospective entrepreneur is given the facility on priority basis”.
The Minister also visited the Sanat Ghar Bemina Srinagar. Representatives of FCIK and SICOP Association appraised various demand to the Ministers and he assured them that their genuine demands will be redressed on the priority basis.
Ganga also laid the foundation stone for re-commissioning and up-gradation of Kashmir Filature at Solina Srinagar. The estimated cost of this project is Rs. 567 lacs.
He also inspected silk reeling unit, Shoddy spinning (A unit of JKI) and Poshish Showroom of Handloom Development Corporation at the Solina premises.
