AWANTIPURA: Islamic University of Science and Technology Awantipura (IUST) observed World Diabetes Day on Tuesday.
Former director SKIMS Soura Prof. Abdul Hamid Zargar delivered talk on “Emerging Trends in Obesity and Diabetes Mellitus – Its impact on Women’s”during the event.
He presented an overview about the causes of obesity and diabetes due to changing lifestyle and control measures of these non-communicable diseases in women.
Saying diseases like diabetes and heart diseases have increased in India over the years, Prof Zargar stressed on the changing lifestyle habits. He also stressed on creating awareness among the people about the causes of these diseases.
On the occasion, VC IUST Prof. Mushtaq Ahmad Siddiqi, said developing countries suffer more in tackling health related issues. He highlighted the role of diagnostic laboratories in detecting the diseases at the early stage.
The event was attended by faculty, students and officials of the varsity.
The lecture was followed by a question session in which students and faculty put forth their queries to Prof. Zargar.
