‘Engineers, who do not ensure quality and timely completion of works, shall be strictly dealt with’
Srinagar: Commissioner Srinagar Municipal Corporation Riyaz Ahmed Wani on Saturday passed instructions to speed up the ongoing works and ensure timely completion. He further said that the subordinate engineers, who do not ensure quality and timely completion of works, shall be strictly dealt with.
The Commissioner held a meeting here with the corporation’s drainage wing to review the pace of various civil and drainage works going on in Srinagar city.
During the course of meeting, various works under Amrut and world bank aid were discussed, a statement issued by the information directorate said here. The meeting informed that Indra Nagar storm water drainage scheme, and other such schemes in Lal Chowk, Mallagagh, Gangbukh, Shalteng are in progress under Amrut scheme.
Under the World Bank financial aid for various works for Jhelum and Tawi Flood Recovery Project (JTFRP), three works have already been put to tender. In addition, 49 dewatering stations are to be upgraded which is under process of bidding.
Further, procurement of diesel pump-sets with towing vehicles, at an estimated cost of RS 5.58 crores, is in process.
Meeting was also informed that the consultant that has been engaged by Housing and Urban Development Department has already prepared the detailed project report for Naaz Colony Sonwar, Nadru Hyderpora, Doodgangah and other missing links. Few left over works in and around the existing pumping stations are also a part of the report.
These DPR’s shall be handed over to World Bank and Project Management Unit for its approval.
