Police denying information about cases against Andrabi, Fehmeeda

Conspiracy to keep Anbdrabi perpetually behind bars: DeM

Srinagar: Alleging that the state government was using all means to keep Dukhtaran-e-Millat chairperson Asiya Andrabi behind bars, DeM on Wednesday that police has not provided information about the cases registered against Andrabi and her personal secretary Sofi Fehmida in response to a petition filed with the Chief Judicial Magistrate by Andrabi’s family.
“So far the SSP Srinagar has three times sought 10-days time to file the response,” DeM general secretary Nahida Nasreen said in a statement.
She alleged that Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti has directed police to use all means to keep Andrabi behind bars as the government “wants her to die in incarceration”. Incarcerated since last year, Andrabi and her personal secretary Sofi Fehmeeda was shifted to central jail Srinagar from Jammu on the recommendation on SHRC.
Nasreen said whenever the two are presented in court, a number of police stations assemble there to prevent her release.
“They think that Baji Sahiba and Fehmeeda ji will be released and, they wait to re-arrest them immediately.”
Therefore, she said, the families decided to get details of all the cases concerning the duo and initiate process for bails.
“Since the health of Baji Sahiba is deteriorating, their family had thought to get the duo bailed out in all the other cases, if any, so that they do not have to step into police stations again and again.” However, Nasreen said the government “under a well planned conspiracy” was doing everything to keep Andrabi behind bars.
“Today again the case was listed, however, the SSP again sought ten more days to file the response,” she said.
