Pulwama: A Cordon and Search Operation (CASO) in Munghama village of Pulwama district on Sunday was called off amid clashes and no contact being established with militants.
Several people sustained minor injuries during clashes with government troops that conducted the CASO.
According to reports, Munghama village was cordoned off at about 3 PM in the afternoon. Local sources told Kashmir Reader that hundreds of people came out and clashed with the government troops soon after the cordon was laid.
“Announcements were made from masjid loudspeakers urging people to come out,” local sources said.
The CASO continued for more than 3 hours despite the clashes. House-to-house searches were carried out but no contact was established with militants.
“The CASO is being wound up. No contact has been established with the militants,” SSP Pulwama Chaudhary Muhammad Aslam told Kashmir Reader in the evening.
