NEW DELHI: To review the progress on the proposals submitted by the state government to the Agriculture Ministry, Government of India (GoI), Minister for Agriculture, Ghulam Nabi Lone Hanjura on Saturday met with India’s Agriculture Minister, Radha Mohan Singh here, an official press note read.
According to the press note, Spice Park Dussoo, Pulwama will be made functional during the current financial year and saffron will be covered under weather-based insurance schemes for which tendering will be floated shortly.
Hanjura stressed for extension of National Saffron Mission for 5 more years so that the saffron production could match the best in the world and the benefits of irrigation and Spice Park would reach to saffron growers of the state.
To boost saffron production in Kishtwar, the DPR for setting up of Saffron Park at Kishtwar would be submitted to GoI within a month, the press note read.
It further read that Saffron Research Project funded by the ministry would be set up at SKUAST-J.
To boost agriculture production, Radha Mohan Singh assured Ghulam Nabi Lone Hanjura of all possible financial assistance to the state, the press note added.
