Non-local labourers arrested with contraband substances
SRINAGAR: Three bootleggers were arrested and illicit liquor was recovered from their possession in Srinagar and Bandipora districts.
Two bootleggers identified as Ram Avaid son of Ram Daresh and Rajesh Chowhan son of Baldev Chowhan residents of UP, at present Saderbal, were arrested during a naka checking by Srinagar police in the jurisdiction of Police Station Nigeen area of the district. Illicit liquor was recovered from their possession.
A case FIR number 147/2017 under section 48 Excise Act was registered investigation was taken up.
Meanwhile, Bandipora police laid a naka at Gund Dachna in the jurisdiction of Police Station Aragam. During naka checking 13 bottles of illicit liquor were seized from the possession of Mehrajuddin Bhat son of Mohammad Maqbool Bhat resident of Plan Bandipora who were travelling in a bus.
A case FIR number 31/2017 under section 48 Excise Act was registered and investigation was taken up.
In another action, Budgam police arrested two drug peddlers and recovered contraband substance from their possession. In a statement, police said that acting on specific information, a party of police station Budgam under the supervision of DySP HQRS raided a Jugi near a brick kiln at Gudsutoo and arrested two drug peddlers identified as Ram Swaroop son of Hakim Singh, resident of Raipur Sanie Punjab and Dilair Singh son of Nath Singh resident of Shant Pur Panjab. Around 15 kilograms of poppy straw was recovered from their possession.
A case FIR number 253/2017 under section 8/20 NDPS Act was registered and investigation was taken up.
