SRINAGAR: The Anjuman-e-Jamia Auqaf Thursday said that the audited expenditure reports of the Masjid would be made public.
A statement issued after a meeting of the Anjuman-e-Jamia Auqaf Srinagar held under the chairmanship of its patron Mirwaiz Umar Farooq said that expenditure report of the Jamia Masjid goes through a proper audit done by chattered accountant.
“Once the audit is completed, the report will be put in the public domain” it said.
The participants reiterated that the Jamia Auqaf is the care taking body of the Jamia Masjid and all the affairs are managed by it in a transparent manner.
The meeting, also attended by members of representatives of Jama Masjid market, also discussed the situation arising out of repeated curbs on Friday prayers at the Masjid.
Friday prayers at the Jama Masjid are frequently banned and for the past five Fridays, no prayers have been held at the Masjid.
The Auqaf members diusccused the issue of curbs, especially “turning entire downtown into a military fortress lookalike by huge deployment of forces and thus preventing the people from every nook and corner of the Valley from reaching Jama Masjid with which they have a strong spiritual and emotional attachment”.
The meeting also discussed a report prepared by the SKUAST-K on how to safeguard the precious wooden pillars of the Jamia Masjid. The report prepared by experts Dr Abdur Rouf Wani, Dr Abu Manzar, Dr Nisar Ahmed and Dr A R Malik, has suggested a slew of measures on preserving the precious deodar pillars of the Jamia Masjid.
