Distributes 12,500 poultry birds for free
Pampore: Minister of State (MoS) for Forests, Environment, Animal, Sheep Husbandry, Fisheries and Cooperative, Mir Zahoor Ahmad on Monday set up a poultry village and distributed at least 12,500 poultry birds free of cost among the families of home village Lalpora Chattlampora in Pampore Constituency, an official press note read.
The minister said that the cost of the poultry birds was met from the Constituency Development Fund (CDF).
According to the press note, the minister expressed hope that the people of the village would optimally utilise this scheme to further boost their business thus raising their socio-economic standards.
The minister said that backyard poultry rearing has many benefits and it is profitable for rural areas.
“We have provided you 40 hens that can lay 40 eggs every day thus making about 200 rupees,” he said, adding that it could increase the avenues of income in an eco-friendly manner.
He also said that the Department of Animal Husbandry has already been given directions to aware general masses about the schemes launched by the government besides providing them latest technical know how about the benefits of poultry rearing, the press note read
He said the concerned department has also been asked to ensure every possible help to the poultry rearing units so that these units get benefited by the schemes and programmes of the government.
Referring to the development of Chatlam wetland, the minister said that a Detailed Project Report (DPR) was earlier prepared for the purpose. He said, “An amount of Rs 25 lakh has been sanctioned for the purpose and the work on the development of Chattlam Sar will be started soon.”
The minister said, “Liberal funding has been earmarked for undertaking various developmental works under various sectors in Pampore Constituency during the current fiscal but need is to utilise them judiciously.”
Mir Zahoor said that directions have already been given to the concerned departments to achieve the targets in a time bound manner so that maximum lot benefited, the press note added.
