Mehbooba pitches for State specific allocation parameters, in time fund releases, skill development initiatives
Srinagar: Highlighting the need for making J&K specific fund allocation agenda in view of the peculiar nature of the state, Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti has sought Niti Ayog (formerly planning commission) help to promote skill development and to deal with hardships during harsh climate.
The chief minister stressed that the mountaneous terrain and wearther conditions should be kept in consideration while working on fund allocation for Jammu and Kashmir.
The vice-chairman of Niti Ayog, Rajiv Kumar, called on the Chief Minister, Mehbooba Mufti, here on Saturday to discuss issues regarding the developmental paradigm of Jammu and Kashmir, an official handout said.
Mehbooba Mufti said that various initiatives launched by her government had improved Jammu & Kashmir’s position on the Ease of Doing Business chart. She sought intervention of Niti Ayog in helping youth reap the benefits of her government’s schemes.
The vice-chairman assured the Chief Minister of a supportive role where his organization would facilitate getting developmental bottlenecks cleared. He informed her of Atal Innovation Mission launched by the Ayog under which incubation centres are being set in educational institutes. He expressed the desire to set up such centres in schools to boost enterprise among young students, the handout by the information department said.
Kumar also informed Mehbooba Mufti of the monitoring mechanism at the Ayog to oversee implementation of centrally sponsored schemes. He talked about the creation of a monitoring and evaluation dashboard by the Ayog for all schemes and sectors.
