SRINAGAR: A trial court in Srinagar on Wednesday directed SSP Srinagar to furnish details of cases under investigation against Dukhtaran-e-Millat (DeM) chief Asiya Andrabi by November 30.
The application was moved by Advocate Mir Uzfi before chief judicial magistrate, Srinagar.
The counsel stated before the court that from last six months Asiya Andrabi has been put behind bars without any justifiable cause. He said it was imperative for the state to report on number of cases registered against her.
She also submitted that Andrabi is living under constant threat and her health was not in good condition. “It is necessary that the state government comes up with number of cases registered against her with the latest status on investigation,” Uzfi said.
Chief judicial magistrate Aijaz Khan after hearing the counsel directed SSP Srinagar to file report on number of cases and the investigation done in the cases, if registered against DeM Chief, by November 30, 2017.
Aasiya Andrabi is presently lodged at central jail Srinagar with her aide Fahmeeda Sofi after trial court at Srinagar directed the state police to shift the duo from Amphalla Jail Jammu to Srinagar on 4 October. The high court has quashed their detention under PSA on 31 August 2017 but the authorities did not release them.
