EJAC, gold dealers hold protest

Srinagar: Employees Joint Action Committee (EJAC) on Monday urged the state government to crack the mysterious hair-chopping cases and expose the culprits.
About a dozen members of EJAC, lead by its president Abdul Qayoom Wani, assembled at Pratap Park here for a sit-in. The employees raised slogans asking the government to “expose the culprits”.
Terming the ‘assault’ on women “not acceptable”, he said that hair cutting was “an attack on the dignity and the honor of the women”.
Wani told Kashmir Reader there was no mass hysteria and someone was “purposely” cutting the hair of women. “There is no confusion among us regarding hair cutting incidents because someone is really behind all this. If someone is saying it is a mass hysteria, then they should come up with proof. No sane woman would cut her hair at any cost and we haven’t seen it before.”
All Kashmir Gold Dealers and Workers Association also staged a protest against hair cutting incidents. The protesting merchants took out a protest march from Hanuman Mandir and went around Hari Singh High Street chanting slogans.
