Budgam: Police warn anti-national and anti-social elements who have been spreading braid-chopping rumours on social media and said that those who spread rumours will be “caught and punished” as per law.
Addressing media persons at Budgam Senior Superintendent of Police Budgam, Tejinder Singh said that except few incidents, most of the cases have been hyped through rumours on social media.”I warn anti-social and anti-national elements who have been spreading such rumours that they will be caught and punished,”
“I want to assure that these incidents are just rumours,” he said. He added that after conducting detailed investigations it was found that among the total of 20 cases, 13 cases have taken place in broad day light when even the family members of the victims were present around. He said that after analysing and examining the circumstances, the reality will come out.
“The investigation further reveals that out of 20 cases that took place in Budgam, five cases were those in which families didn’t even cooperate with police at all. And police were not allowed to visit the spots by families of the victims,” Singh said.
He further said that 2 cases were those in which the family had their private dispute that were later resolved because of the social pressure. “In one case the alleged victim cried without any reason. However, nothing has happened to her,” he said.
