Police say Jaish militants barged into house of slain woman’s sister and fired several shots
Anantnag: A woman was killed and her sister wounded after unidentified gunmen shot at them in Seer village of Tral in Pulwama district on Sunday. As per police reports, the incident took place at about 12:30pm, inside the house of the sister in Seer village.
The slain woman has been identified as Yasmeena, daughter of Ghulam Rasool Bhat, resident of Khunmoh area on the outskirts of Srinagar city. Yasmeena was in Seer visiting her sister when the attack took place.
The injured woman has been identified as Ruby Jan, wife of Muhammad Shafi Wagay, resident of Seer, Tral. Ruby and Yasmeena, as per reports, are sisters.
“The militants barged into their house and fired several rounds at the women, killing one and injuring the other,” a senior police official from Tral said.
The official blamed Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) militants for the shootout.
The women were immediately rushed to the Tral sub-district hospital (SDH), where Yasmeena was declared brought dead with bullet injuries in her abdomen.
“Ruby had a bullet wound in her leg. She has been shifted to a Srinagar hospital for specialised treatment,” a doctor at SDH Tral told Kashmir Reader.
