Srinagar: On the instructions of Winter Games Federation of India the Winter Games Association of J&K (WGAJK) is registering its athletes with International Ski Federation (FIS) for participation in Nationals and International sporting events, a statement issued by the WGAJK said.
The WGAJK is also going to field its teams comprising of all those athletes who got first three positions in State Championship held in April earlier this year..
The National Alpine Ski Championship for all categories and FIS Races will be held at Auli Uttrakhand in January next year.
It is mandatory now for all skiers of the country to be registered with FIS.
From 2018 all National Championships will be held under FIS guidelines. Besides, for participation in International FIS Races the best skiers of the state, who have good record of participation in nationals, are also ought to be registered with FIS.
In this connection the WGAJK is holding a general meeting of skiers and snowboarders of the state to finalize the formalities with regard to their registration with the International Ski Federation (FIS).
However, first five position winners of last Junior State Championship in all the 3 age groups boys and girls for their participation in next National Junior Championship and 5 position winners of last Senior State Championship for their participation in Senior National Championship have been advised to attend the meeting scheduled to be held at Bakshi Stadium on Tuesday at 2 pm.
Boys and Girls born in 2001 or before for their participation in FIS Races. Only those who have participated in Nationals in particular event can participate in FIS Races.
