Srinagar: Chief Minister, Mehbooba Mufti on Monday evening welcomed the announcement made by the Home Minister Rajnath Singh in New Delhi about the “sustained dialogue” in Jammu and Kashmir.
“Today’s announcement of New Delhi is the practical shape of the PM Modi’s August 15 speech,” Mehbooba told reporters in Srinagar.
Without naming anybody Mehbooba said, “Now all people will take steps so that guns in Kashmir fall silent, killings will stop and people will have a sigh of relief.”
Mehbooba said that there was no condition on dialogue “from any side.”
Earlier, Rajnath Singh made the announcement in New Delhi and said that the Centre has decided to start a “sustained dialogue” in Jammu and Kashmir.
Rajnath also announced that former Intelligence Bureau director Dineshwar Sharma has been appointed as the Centre’s representative or interlocutor.
