Srinagar: Police on Saturday arrested three main accused – Basharat Maqbool, Ashiq Akhoon and Owais wani – for thrashing two persons after accusing them of ‘braid chopping’.
The incident occurred on 6th of October when residents of Akhoon Mohalla in Ishber Nishat captured two persons, accusing them ‘braid chopping’. “They were thrashed,” police said, adding, “However, as the police got to know about the incident, a police team promptly rushed to the spot and took custody of the ‘captured persons’”. Police later let them off after “proper investigation and medical treatment”.
“One of them, Sameer Ahmad Khan, son of Noor Mohammad Khan, resident of Ahmad Nagar, runs a boutique,” a police statement. “He, along with his friend Tahir Ahmad Beigh son of Ghulam Qadir Beigh resident of Gojwara had gone to collect some material from one of their customers.”
