Warrant issued against two doctors for avoiding court hearing in rape case

SRINAGAR: A trial court in Srinagar on Friday issued warrant against two doctors for their continued absence before the court hearing of a rape case.
The court of second additional session’s judge, Tahir Khurshid Raina issued bailable warrant against Dr Rukhsana Jabeen and Dr R A Misgar for failing to appear before the court.
The court observed, despite witnesses were asked to appear before the court, they have not turned up, hampering the trial. “It is in the interest of justice to issue a warrant against the two doctors,” the court said.
According to the case diary, on May 13, 2016, accused Mohammad Sabir Bhat, 70, a resident of Lasjan, Nowgam allegedly raped a minor, residing in his neighbourhood. The accused had allegedly called the minor to his house around 3 pm wherein he locked her in a room and raped her. The minor went crying to her home and subsequently lodged an FIR against the accused at police station Nowgam.
The accused was arrested under FIR 47/2016 under section 376 RPC (committing of rape) in 2016 and was produced before court where the trial of the case is going on. Out of eight witnesses four have been recorded so far.
The parents have pleaded before the court that the accused should be given exemplary punishment so that no one dares to commit such a heinous act.
On previous hearing the mother of the minor pleaded before the court that these incidents will take place unless criminals are dealt with severety.
