Hurriyat condemns Geelani’s continuous house detention

SRINAGAR: Hurriyat Confer¬ence on Friday strongly con¬demned the continuous house de¬tention of its chairman Syed Ali Geelani saying authorities again barred him from offering Friday prayers. “It tantamount to inter¬ference in religious matters,” a Hurriyat spokesperson said in a statement. “The veteran leader continuously remained house ar¬rested for last 7 years.” Meanwhile, the spokesperson said the conglomerate’s executive council meeting which was scheduled on Saturday has been postponed and will be held on Sunday (October 22) at Hyderpora at 10 am.
Meanwhile, Syed Ali Geelani expressed deep grief over the demise of Saif ud Din Saifi (Sopori) and extended his condolences with the grieved family. “During services, he was my close colleague and was a very good and righteous person,” Geelani said and prayed for the heavenly abode of the deceased and forbearance to the bereaved family.
