SRINAGAR: Hamid Aziz, one of the athletes from Kashmir is going to run 110 kilomters on Sunday aiming to set a record one day run for the state.
Aziz has recently participated 59th Senior National in July this year in Andra Pradesh.
Hamid has already covered 60 kilometers run on a single day with the Australian marathon runner Pat Farmer who concluded his Pan India great marathon in Srinagar on March 27, 2017.
Besides, he has won the state championship on December 9, 2013. The latest achievement to him has been the participation of the India Expedition Adventure Race which was held in Srinagar, Sonamarg and Leh.
His acumen for long runs has promoted him to set out for his personal best of running over 100 kilomters which he has scheduled for October 22, 2017. Two local hotels have come out in support for the athlete who has sponsored this mega event.
The event will be flagged off at Hotel Shahenshah Palace Srinagar and he will run towards Sonamarg and then Baltal to complete 110 kilometer run.
“I am hopeful of completing the run in 10 hours. It won’t be a difficult task for me. I have already run 60 km in 2015 and also this year with foreign teams at Leh. I want to record my personal best,” said Hamiz Aziz. Aziz plans to run 400 km in spring 2018 and 1000 kilometers in 2019 to ultimately aim for Kashmir to Kanyakumari run in five years of time.
