JAMMU: Vigilance Organisation has booked and arrested tehsildar Kishtwar for demanding and accepting bribe from a complainant.
A statement issued by the organization said that Irshad Ahmed Butt was caught red handed while demanding and accepting Rs 7000 as illegal gratification from the complainant, during a trap laid by its sleuths.
Farooq Ahmed Kripak, a resident of village Keshwan Kishtwar had lodged a complaint against the tehsildar.
Kripak had alleged that he approached Patwari Halqa Keshwan for processing the RBA certificates of his wards for which the Patwari Halqa Keshwan demanded Rs 5000 from him, but he decline to pay.
Accordingly, the Patwari Halqa prepared the income certificate of complainant at Rs 40,000 per annum “which is very much higher than his actual income”. The complainant approached Tehsildar Kishtwar Irshad Ahmed Butt for re-verifying his income.
The Tehsildar after verification prepared his (complainant) actual income, but demanded Rs 7000 as bribe from him, upon which he approached the Vigilance.
A trap was laid, and after being caught red handed, the tehsildar was arrested.
