SRINAGAR: The Democratic Freedom Party (DFP) on Friday expressed serious concern over the growing “criminal activities” across the state and alleged that criminal elements are being given secret protection by authorities.
A DFP statement issued here said people’s reaction against the unabated braid chopping incidents and intruding of criminals into residential houses in a broad day-light is justified. “If these criminal are not reined in, the situation can turn ugly,” it said.
“On one hand, the resistance leaders have been booked under false cases by Enforcement Directorate and NIA and continuous efforts are being made to malign their image, and on the other hand, our women-folk is being harassed in order to divert people’s attention from Articel 35-A and conspiracies to erode the special status of Jammu Kashmir,” the party said, adding, “The situation is serious and people’s reaction against it is justified.”
The part also condemned the forces’ action on people in Samboora, Pulwama, who were protesting against the braid chopping incident. “On one hand, the culprits involved are shielded and on other side, bullets are being showered upon the protesting people,” it said.
“These acts by forces give a clear indication that those involved in crimes of braid chopping are being shielded by the state,” the DFP said.
