Uri operation still on: Army

Baramulla: Army on Tuesday said that the operation against militants launched in Rampur sector of Uri was still on. On Monday, army said two bodies of militants were recovered in the sector.
“From the past few days there was suspicious movement along the LOC at Torna sector and on Sunday night a group of four militants enter into this side, as we challenged them they opened fire on our troops which was retaliated accordingly,” Commander of the Rampur Brigade, Birgadier V K Namblar and Commanding Officer of 21 Sikh regiment Col Ashotosh told reporters at a press conference in Rampur Uri.
“On Monday when we launched a search operation we found two bodies of militants and we also recovered large quantity of arms and ammunition including two AK 47 rifles, one pistol, one radio set, hundreds of rounds, three sticks, one knife, Pakistani made food packets, medicine, dry fruits and warm clothes.”
Both the officials said that one among the group of four militants escaped across the LOC while another was still on this side.
“We will find him very soon dead or alive.”
Birgadier Namblar said that the troops are alert on the borders.
The army on the occasion also displayed the arms and ammunition claimed to have been recovered from the slain militants.
Official sources said that both the bodies were buried in martyrs graveyard in Bela Boniyar previous night by the local police and civilian.
Meanwhile, the reports reached from the Tangdar area of Kupwara district said that massive search operation has been launched in the area after the killing of three militants Monday.
