Srinagar: Locals of upper reaches of Dachna Salamabad and Bagna villages in Uri Wednesday said that forests in their areas are under terrible fire from last four days and no one from the concerned department has so far visited the area.
According to a local Abdul Gaffer Naik “a vast number of trees have turned into ashes.”
“We have also lost a huge quantity of grass heaped in the area for coming winters,” Naik added.
MLA Uri Mohammad Shafi Uri has also appealed the government authorities to send teams in the affected areas.
Locals, who claim of witnessing the huge clouds of smoke in helplessness, have alleged that no one from administration has reached the area so far.
They said that fire is fast spreading and if immediate measures are not taken it can prove fatal.
