ANANTNAG: The Bhartiya Janta Party’s (BJP) member of Legislative Council, Sofi Yousuf on Sunday alleged the workers of opposition parties of being involved in braid choppin incidents.
“The workers of National Conference and Congress parties are involved in these incidents and it is an attempt to create chaos and topple the PDP-BJP government,” Sofi said.
He was addressing a workers function at Housing Colony Khanabal, Anantnag.
Most of the braid chopping incidents in the Valley have been reported from southern districts.
Later speaking to Kashmir Reader, Sofi said that he stands by his comments adding, “Since PDP-BJP joined hands, opposition parties are playing the different types of dirty politics to malign the government.”
“From the controversy of Article 370 to 35-A, they left no stone unturned to make a split in government. Even they tried to set the whole valley on fire after the death of Burhan Wani,” he said.
“They clearly ordered their workers to throw stones on forces and even they were later identified as well.”
Sofi said that the government directed police to raise the reward money to six lakhs “because we can’t let these parties play with the people like this.”
Earlier, the coalition partner in government, PDP in a statement said that the braid chopping incidents are direct attack on Kashmiri ethos and a brazen attempt to undermine universal culture of respect for womanhood.
