Acute water crisis in Pampore, officials enjoy holidays

Pampore: The residents of Pampore town in Pulwama district are up in arms against the local administration for failing to resolve the issue of water crisis in the area.

Mushtaq Ahmad, a resident of Kadlabal, told the Kashmir Reader that the area is facing acute water shortage for last five days.

“The water taps are completely dry,” he said adding that the officials concerned are enjoying holidays.

“We have been getting water from Tangnar water Scheme but it is meagre,” said another local, “the water has no pressure and our women folk have to fetch water from outside.”

It may be noted that the government employees are enjoying four consecutive holidays in Kashmir Valley since Friday up to Monday.

“I visited PHE office but they said the offices are closed becuse of holidays,” the local added.

“There seem to be some issue between the civil and mechanical divisions of PHE in Pampore which has resulted in problems to the locals,” he said.
