PAMPORE: A CRPF constable shot himself to death with his service rifle during duty in Pampore area of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Friday morning, police said.
Panic gripped the grid station Pampore after firing shots were heard in the CRPF camp.
The CRPF personnel rushed towards the spot and found a constable lying in a pool of blood in front of private vehicle.
The 48-year-old Head Constable Ananta Kumar Dass of E/110 Battalion of CRPF was posted at the camp inside gas turbine grid station Pampore
Ananta was a native village of Kampur district of Assam.
The reason behind the suicide is not known.
Police has registered a case and started investigation, they said.
The body of the deceased was handed over to concerned unit after legal formalities, police said.
