Srinagar: Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman arrived in Srinagar Friday on a two-day visit to Jammu and Kashmir to take stock of the overall security situation on the borders.
This is the first visit of Sitharaman to J&K as Defence minister of India early this month.
The visit comes at a time when Indian and Pakistani troops are exchanging fire and mortals almost on daily basis.
Defence sources said that Sitharaman, accompanied by Army chief General Bipin Rawat, is visiting some forward posts in north Kashmir.
Immediately after arriving in Srinagar she was given a detailed brief about the overall security situation in the valley and on the borders.
