APHC denounces Mirwaiz’s house arrest

SRINAGAR: Strongly denouncing the fresh order of house detention of the APHC chairman, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, the conglomerate has said that a blanket ban on the movement of the APHC chairman and barring him from carrying out his social, religious and political activities “reflect the political vendetta of the ruling class”.
In a statement issued in here on Thursday, the spokesman said that Miwaiz was scheduled to address a seminar for paying tributes to Hazrat Imam Hussain (AS), the grandson of Prophet Muhammad (SAW).
“However, a contingent of police reached the residence of Mirwaiz at Nigeen and didn’t allow him to come out of his residence,” the spokesperson said.
APHC also expressed serious concern over the plight of Kashmiris lodged in various jails in J&K and parts of India. “Many prisoners are languishing in prisons without any trial and many of them have developed serious health complications in absence of proper medical aid, which is a serious concern,” he said.
