SRINAGAR: Doctors Association Kashmir (DAK) on Wednesday held a condolence meeting at SMHS hospital to mourn the demise of a noted physician Dr Mehraj-ud-Din who breathed his last on Tuesday at SKIMS after a brief illness.
Expressing profound grief over the death, President DAK Dr Nisar ul Hassan in the meeting prayed for eternal peace to the departed soul and conveyed heartfelt sympathies to the bereaved family.
Paying rich tributes to the deceased, Dr Nisar said the death of Dr Mehraj-ud-Din is a great loss and has resulted in an unbridgeable void. “A man of impeccable integrity, his commitment to the welfare of people of Kashmir was commendable,” he said.
Calling the death as an irreparable loss, DAK president said that medical fraternity has lost a precious gem of a man in the demise of Dr Mehraj. “He was a personification of an ideal doctor; wise, compassionate, kind and above all honest. He was instrumental in establishing and shaping the department of medicine at SMHS hospital.”
“His contributions in the field of medicine will be remembered for a long time to come. His clinical skills were a treasure and are even now practiced by his pupils. Patients had faith and trust in him and they still carry his prescriptions and value them,” Dr Nisar said.
“He will be sorely missed by everyone whose lives he touched. He was a true son of the soil. We have lost a companion, but the nation has lost an asset,” Dr Hassan said.
