Srinagar: Kulgam town in south Kashmir on Tuesday observed shutdown against what they called increasing incidents of hair chopping.
Five hair chopping incidents were reported from the south Kashmir district in recent days.
Chief minister Mehbooba Mufti has directed police to investigate the incidents.
All shops and business establishments are closed while as public transport is off the roads, local sources said.
They said that locals of Malwan village of the district late last evening claimed of getting hold of an alleged hair chopper.
However, locals alleged army of firing in air and taking the alleged hair chopper along.
“People in the area are scared and feel insecure even in their own homes,” said a local to Kashmir Reader over phone.
