SRINAGAR: A national level two-day workshop on ‘data analytics of cloud based IoT’ was conducted at SSM College of Engineering & Technology on 23rd and 24th of September.
An official statement issued here said the workshop attracted many participants from within and outside the State. It hosted speakers who are IT professionals and experts from industry and academia.
SH Abbas Nehvi, Joint Director Software Technology parks of India was the chief guest. The other keynote speakers included Dr Shabir A Sofi, HOD (IT) NIT Sgr, Jahangir, Kalimullah, Assistant Professors NIT Sgr, Dr Ajaz, a post doctorate fellow from UK.
The opening ceremony was initiated by Vice-Chairperson of the College Dilafrose Qazi. Welcoming the dignitaries, the Principal addressed the audience with valuable words of wisdom and highlighted the need to acknowledge the importance of cloud computing and big data in our lives.
The two days of insightful presentations, discussions covers the current state of the art in Big Data technologies, standards, platforms and solutions from both the academia and industry perspective. Furthermore, it highlighted big data impact on the development of people, business organizations, and governments and eventually the value added services it provides.
The two days event was a platform for young learners to appreciate the importance of big data and cloud computing in present scenario, the statement said. Participants were introduced to the concept of business analytics with big data technologies: Hadoop, Hive and HBase. It highlighted the basic principles, concepts, and techniques used for big data and business analytics, which includes Hadoop, HDFS & Map Reduce, Apache HBase and Apache Hive. The Chairman of the college Dr Qazi Shabir Ahmad closed the ceremony in his valedictory address. The event culminated with his vote of thanks wherein he thanked the participants, speakers and organizers for conducting the event successfully.
