AWANTIPORA: A Group of talented, young and bright Kashmiri scientists presently pursuing their research in various countries conducted a special mentorship programme on the theme “The Global Opportunities for Science – A Journey from Local to Global Perspectives” at Islamic University of Science and Technology(IUST) on Wednesday.
The Kashmir born scientists, Dr. Shabir Hassan – Harvard University, USA, Ms. Tanzila Mukhtar – University of Basel, Switzerland and Zeeshan Mushtaq – University of Kaiser Lauten, Germany emphasized on how to make a career in any field using very basic techniques of personal development.
They enlightened the students about fellowships and scholarships available world over for chasing their dreams. They encouraged the students to involve themselves in small projects and internships and being proactive and creative in the field of science and technology. To achieve their goals, students should be inquisitive and curious, they added.
Vice Chancellor, IUST, Prof. Mushtaq A. Siddiqi,while addressing the gathering encouraged the students by sharing his own experience. His talk included various tips starting from studying the course to applying for the same and making a career.Special emphasis is being laid for creating an excellent learning environment aimed at the gainful employment opportunities as well as the modern entrepreneurship skills for the students, he added.
