SRINAGAR: For the second consecutive day on Thursday, scores of patients suffered due to the non-availability of doctors at Ayurveda Yoga and Naturopathy Unani Siddha and Homeopathic (AYUSH) unit in Jawaharlal Nehru Memorial (JLNM) hospital, Rainawari.
As reported by Kashmir Reader, doctors were attending meetings and making preparations for the reception of a minister, leaving a few interns to attend patients.
One of the patients said that the sense at the hospital unit was no different from yesterday and patients had to leave the hospital without the proper consultation. “I felt that doctors might have come today but there was no one present in the hospital,” she said.
Another patient complained that it was pathetic to see doctors giving preferences to “trivial matters” over patient care. “If doctors were supposed to attend the meetings, then few of them should have at least stayed back in the hospital. Meetings are important and I can understand that but lives matter too,” he said.
Despite many attempts, secretary Technical Health and Medical Education, Abdul Qabir Dar could not be reached on phone.
