Budgam: A cordon and search operation was conducted in Shinglipora village of Khag in central Kashmir’s Budgam district on wee hours of Wednesday, police said.
Police said that after the reports of the presence of militants in the area the army and police cordoned off several Mohallas of the village and held search operations there.
“Most of the villagers were sleeping when the announcement was made that army men had cordoned off several mohallas including Dar Mohalla, Malik mohalla, Chann mohalla, and Ahanger Mohalla of the village,” a local resident Mudassir Ahmad told Kashmir Reader.
Locals said that the army men later searched their houses thoroughly and smashed the window panes of several houses. They added that it is the first such cordon in the village after decades.
Station House Officer Mohammad Aslam said that the CASO later ended peacefully after continuing to 6 hours.
