SRINAGAR: J&K High Court Bar Association (JKHCBA) on Wednesday said it will hold election of its office bearers on 28 September. The elections were scheduled to be held on 7th of September but were deferred because of the issuance of notice to Bar president Mian Qayoom by NIA.
Bar in a statement issued here said the move was taken in a meeting of the Election Commission of J&K High Court Bar Association headed by its chairman Abdul Rashid Keng held on Wednesday. The polling shall start at 9 am and will end at 3:30 pm at Moominabad Court Complex, Srinagar. The result of the election will be declared on the same day.
Besides Chairman, the meeting was attended by Ghulam Nabi Dar, Vice Chairman; Bashir Ahmad Khan, Secretary; Ali Mohammad Dar, Mir Suhail, Mohammad Arif Parray, Mr. Mudasir Yousuf, and Mudasir Gulzar.
The following candidates would be contesting the elections for the posts mentioned below:
President: Mian Abdul Qayoom and Nazir Ahmad Ronga; Vice-President: Mohammad Ashraf Bhat and Mushtaq Ahmad Dar; Secretary: Ghulam Nabi Shaheen and Shabir Ahmad Butt; Joint Secretary: Aadil Asimi, Asrar Ahmad and Ishrat-ul-Nissa; Treasurer: Sameer Ahmad Wani and Zahoor ahmad Bhat.
