Raza’s 6 wkt haul guides ICSC Alumni to easy victory


SRINAGAR: left arm spinner Waseem Raza’s six wicket haul helped Islamia College Alumni team to sail into semifinals of Prof Yousuf Memorial Inter College Cricket Cup.
In the last quarter final of the tournament host ICSC beat Gandhi Memorial College by four wickets.
Chasing a target of 152 runs ICSC Alumni team achieved the target in 23.4 over’s with four wickets in hand. Moosa scored run a ball 47 runs runs and Raees hit some lusty hits scoring quick fire 36 from just 16 balls.
For Gandhi College Adil Rashid took four wickets and Shakeel also bagged two wickets.
Earlier, batting first after winning the toss Gandhi College openers provided a solid start and added 96 run partnership for the first wicket with the introduction of Raza who bowled beautifully to claim 6 wickets in 5 over’s giving away just 15 runs only. Shahid Asrar also took three wickets for 18 runs in 4.5 over’s and restricted Gandhi College scored 151 runs in 22.5 over’s.
For Gandhi College Amir Suhail scored 68 runs in 38 balls Arif Shan scored 30 in 38 balls.
Today ICSC Alumni team will face GDC Ganderbal in first semifinal and on Thursday A S College will play against the host college team in second semifinal.
The tournament is organised by the department of Physical Education Islamia College Srinagar.
