SRINAGAR: Hurriyat Conference (M) has strongly condemned the continuous house arrest of its chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, saying the government was following a policy of “revenge” against Mirwaiz.
A spokesperson of the conglomerate in a statement termed Mirwaiz’s house detention as “highly undemocratic”. Caging Mirwaiz has resulted in problems for general public who are not allowed to meet him as Mirwaiz is not only a political but also a religious leader and has many commitments on social front as well,” he said.
“It is an irony that Mirwaiz is being caged every now and then without any rhyme and reason. It is the deliberate policy of the government to keep Mirwaiz away from people,” the spokesperson said.
