‘No 6% commission on Kashmiri apple growers’

SRINAGAR: Much to the relief for the apple fruit growers of Kashmir, there will be no deduction of 6 percent commission on apple boxes from the growers from now on, an official press note issued Friday read.
“The commission will not be charged from a grower now. It will be now charged from a buyer,” KNS, a local new agency, quoted an official saying.
It was said to be a long pending demand of the fruit growers that no 6 percent commission be deducted from them.
Talking to KNS, president of Kashmir Apple Merchants Association (KAMA) Azadpur Delhi, Metha Ram Kirpani confirmed the development that from now onwards, the six percent commission won’t be charged from the grower. “The commission of six percent will now be charged from a buyer on the gross sale,” he said.
Kirpani said the commission will be deducted from the person who purchases the fruit in retail market.
“In case some fruit merchants from Azadpur Delhi deduct 6% from the grower, he can proceed to us and will be ensured to get the commission amount back,” he added.
