BANDIPORA: A Hizbul Mujahideen militant was arrested at a naka (checkpoint) laid by government forces in Bandipora on Thursday. As per police sources, a joint naka was laid down by Bandipore police, army’s 14 RR, and CRPF’s 3rd Battalion at Gurez mod (turning) under the jurisdiction of police station Bandipore. The naka was laid after specific information regarding movement of some militants.
During the checking, a militant of Hizbul Mujahideen was apprehended along with arms/ammunition, police said. The identity of the militant has been established as Zameer Ahmed Khatana Gujjar, son of Syed Wali Khatana Gujjar, resident of Boiynar, Bandipore. From his possession one Chinese pistol, one pistol magazine, and eight 9mm pistol rounds were recovered.
A case FIR No 125/2017 under Section 7/25 IA Act was registered at police station Bandipore and an investigation taken up, police said.
