ICSC qualifies for semis


SRINAGAR: Islamia College of Science and Commerce register five wicket win over GDC Baramulla to make their way into semis of Yousuf Memorial Cricket tournament played at ICSC ground on Thursday.
GDC Baramulla won the toss and decided to bat first and scored 211 runs in 29.4 overs losing all wickets. For them Jehangir was main contributor with willow scoring 74 off 64 deliveries and down the order Ijtiba hit some lusty hits scoring quick fire 54 from just 25 deliveries.
For host Islamia College team Mehfooz Khan claimed four wickets and Bilal also bagged two wickets.
Chasing a stiff target of 212 runs four top order batsmen of host College were back in the hut withjust 30 runs on the board.
But middle order batsman Zaid and Bilal played cautiously and steadied the innings and stitched a match winning 150 run partnerships for the fifth wicket.
Zaid scored unbeaten 93 off 60 balls and Bilal scored run a ball41.The host team overhauled the target with 3 overs to spare and won the match by 5 wickets. For Baramulla Umar and Junaid took two wickets each.
On Friday Gandhi Memorial College will meet Islamia College Alumni in thirrd quarter final and on Monday Post Graduates department team will play A S College for birth in semifinals. The tournament is organised by the department of Physical Education Islamia College Srinagar.
