2nd phase of South Kashmir sports festival begins

Srinagar: The 2nd Phase of South Kashmir Sports Festival 2017 was Tuesday declared open by, DIG of Police, South Kashmir Range, Swayam Prakash Pani at Sports Stadium Tikka Bagh, Mattan Anantnag.
Speaking on the occasion DIGP, SKR, advised all sportsmen to be positive and play the games with team spirit. In accordance to Frenchman Cubertin’s quote “Play the Game and Play it Well”. He further threw light on importance of sports in daily life.
During the opening ceremony a differently abled cricketer Aamir Rasool of Waghama Bijbehara, was present on the occasion. Amir is representing Indian Para Cricket Team and has participated several times at National level.
The festival is being played in the disciplines of T20 Cricket (Boys & Girls), Volley ball (Boys & Girls) Kho-Kho (Girls), Track event 100 mtr (Girls) & 200 mtr (Boys), Discuss throw (Boys & Girls), Wushur (Girls), Tug of war (Boys), Kabaddi (Boys), Short version Football (Boys), Short put (Boys & Girls), Karate (Boys), Javelin throws (Boys & Girls).
Top three teams/ athletes of each event will be selected for 3rd Phase of sports festival which will be played at Zonal Level.
