SRINAGAR: Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Baseer Ahmad Khan on Monday convened a meeting to review traffic decongestion measures being undertaken across the valley.
Additional Commissioner Kashmir, Additional Deputy Commissioner Srinagar, VC SDA, Commissioner SMC, Deputy Director JKSRTC, Deputy Director Planning and other concerned officials were present in the meeting whereas all Deputy Commissioners of all Valley districts participated in the meeting through video conferencing.
No horn zones around hospitals and educational institutions, installation of traffic signage, notified parking areas, no parking zones and removal of encroachment along the roads was discussed threadbare in the meeting.
Div Com directed all Deputy Commissioners to ensure implementation of traffic decongestion measures in letter and spirit in their respective districts.
He also directed the SMC to intensify drive for the removal of road side vendors and relocate them to identified locations.
Baseer Khan asked the concerned officers to ensure bottlenecks, if any, are immediately cleared so that traffic de-congestion measures are implemented smoothly in capital Srinagar and as well as across the Valley.
Divisional Commissioner also convened a meeting to review the rehabilitation plan for shopkeepers and other traders affected by shifting of General Bus Stand Batamaloo to Parimpora.
Deputy Commissioner Srinagar, VC SDA, MD SRTC, SMC Commissioner, Deputy Director Planning, Representatives of All Traders Joint Coordination Committee Batamaloo and other concerned officials were present in the meeting, a statement issued by the information department said.
The Divisional Commissioner directed DC Srinagar to undertake mapping of adjoining areas of New Parimpora Bus Stand. He also directed SDA to collect the category-wise data of all affected shopkeepers and vendors along with their business activity. They were directed to submit the reports within a week’s time so that the draft of the comprehensive rehabilitation plan is prepared for the benefit of affected traders.
On the occasion, Divisional Commissioner said under this comprehensive rehabilitation plan, all affected shopkeepers and other persons whose trading activities might have suffered will be properly rehabilitated.
