Kunzar residents aghast over open garbage dumping

Baramulla: Residents of Kunzar town in northern Kashmir’s Baramulla district are up in arms against the local municipal committee for dumping garbage in the open near a taxi (sumo) stand and in a local stream.
They said that thousands of people including tourists and students throng the stand round the clock and face problems because of the garbage stench.
They also alleged that the municipal committee puts lives of residents at risk by dumping garbage near a local stream used to supply the water to dozens of villages of Kunzar area.
Drivers from the Kunzar sumo stand said that they pay 15 rupees towards Municipal Committee Kunzer but the committee fails to keep it clean.
