Srinagar: Kashmir Transporters Welfare Association (KTWA) has called for a shutdown (Chakka Jam) for two-days across the Valley from Wednesday to protest against the shifting of General Bus Stand from Batamaloo to Parimpora.
A statement issued by KTWA said the shifting will have adverse impact on the livelihood of thousands of people associated with commercial vehicles and businesses operating in the vicinity of the bus stand.
“Buses and mini-buses will all be a part of the strike,” the statement said. “Government should stop playing around with lives of transporters and traders. It has been decided that a Chakka Jam strike will be held across Kashmir Wednesday and Thursday.”
The spokesperson also said that vehicles which operate for schools will also remain suspended.
