GUREZ: Minister for Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs and Information, Chowdhary Zulfkar Ali on Thursday directed the concerned to speed up the stocking of food grains and other essential commodities in border area of Gurez sub-division before the onset of winter and to ensure that storage of ration will cater the requirements till June next year, an official press note issued here read.
The minister, who was on a two-day tour to Gurez sub-division on Thursday gave these directions while inspecting various food stores in Tulail tehsil. During his tour, the minister visited various far off villages including Burnai, Kashpart, Zedgae, Purana-Tulail, Manzgund, Jurniyal and Shiekhpora and reviewed development scenario in these areas.
The minister also inspected food store at Jurniyal and Purana Tulail and took stock of the availability of food grains. Sufficient quantity of rice and other essential commodities is available in the sub-division, the note added.
“4075 quintal rice, 1070 quintal atta, 532 quintal sugar and 14213 liter kerosene oil is available in various food stores of the subdivision while as 2033 quintal rice, 570 quintal atta, 110 quintal sugar and 2450 liter kerosene oil have been distributed among the consumers during the month of July and August,” read the press note adding that a total of 32235 souls receive their ration through 5814 ration tickets under various categories of PHH, NPHH, BPL and AAY.
At Jurniyal, Chowdhary Zulfkar Ali interacted with the public and enquired about ration supply and other amenities.
At Dawar, the minister also met various public deputations who put forth their demands concerning the people in the area. He assured the delegation that their genuine demands would be looked into on priority basis.
